The Associated Press had released the Class 3A All-State football team and a pair of Gainesville Leopards were honored.

As you might expect from a team that finished the year with a 12-1 record and advanced all the way to the State quarterfinals, the Gainesville Leopards dominated the 9-3A All-District team released this week by the district's coaches.

Call it a case of missed opportunities.

Trailing 24-14 in the third quarter, the Gainesville Leopards had four-straight possessions deep in Kilgore territory but were unable to come away with any points.

The Gainesville Leopards scored touchdowns on five of their first six offensive possessions and exploded for 34 first-half points en route to an easy 40-14 win over the Princeton Panthers in the Area round of the Class 3A Division I playoffs Friday afternoon in Aubrey.
