Boys Cross Country - Sat, Sep. 24, 2011

The Gainesville High School varsity boys cross country team brought home the team championship from the Lindsay Invitational Saturday.

Gainesville finished first with 49 points, while Pilot Point was second with 68 and Bethesda Christian was third with 78.

Gio Carranza led the Leopards with a first-place finish in a time of 16:37, while teammate Evy Puente was right behind, finishing second in a time of 16:39.

Also for Gainesville, Richard Bean was ninth (17:41), Link Ferch was 19th (18:18), Cale Kennedy was 20th (18:22), Ervin Bean was 24th (18:29) and Hunter Goldsworthy was 51st (20:07).

The Gainesville JV boys also brought home a team title, finishing first with 19 points.

Gainesville took 9 of the top 15 spots. Ismael Castaneda was first (18:45), Michael Sanchez was third (19:44), Chris Govea was fourth (19:49), Charlie Kirk was seventh (20:05), Mitchell Case was eighth (20:11), Alain Ruvacaba was 11th (20:19), Rodrigo Vasquez was 13th (20:37), Bradley Tuscana was 14th (20:37), Jacob Goldsworthy was 15th (20:49), Jose Ortiz was 32nd (25:13) and Ricardo Mendez was 33rd (25:16).
