The Gainesville Leopards soccer team fell to Wichita Falls Rider 2-1 in a District 9-4A game Tuesday night.
Gainesville struck first when Hector Sagrero fired a long-range shot over the head of Rider's keeper. Rider was able to even the score late in the first half by taking advantage of some confusion in the goalie box, and poking it in.
The game continued back and forth through the second half with both teams getting scoring opportunities. Aaron DeLeon came out with some big saves for the Leopards.
Finally, Rider managed to catch a lucky break when the Leopards let up on a ball they believed to be out of bounds. The ref gave no whistle and a Rider player, realizing there was no whistle, continued to play and put the ball in the back of the net.
The Gainesville JV lost 3-1 with their goal coming from a penalty kick by Ivan Cardenas.
