
The Gainesville Leopards picked up their first District 9-3A win Tuesday with a 62-50 victory over the Sanger Indians.
Gainesville (16-7 overall) jumped out to a 19-12 lead after the first quarter and kept that seven-point advantage at halftime. The Leopards then pushed their lead to double digits after halftime.
Four different GHS players scored in double figures. David Moore had 17 points and 5 assists; Denzel Johnson had 17 points and 8 rebounds; DJ Harris had 12 points and 7 rebounds; Jonathan Mendez had 12 points and 5 rebounds; and De'Quan Wilford had 4 points and 4 rebounds.
Collin Crutsinger led Sanger with 20 points . Sanger is now 6-16 overall and 0-2 in district.
The Gainesville JV lost to Sanger 39-33.
Landon Bond had 12 points for the Leopards, while Ashton Neu added 8.
