Dates have been set for the annual Leopard Football Camp. The instructional camp for youth will be held July 15-17 at Leopard Stadium.

GHS - Mon, May. 13, 2013

A large crowd packed the Gainesville High School cafeteria Monday night to honor the student-athletes from GHS at the annual Leopards Sports Banquet.

After a meal catered by Karen Wade, coaches from each sport introduced all of their players and then presented awards.

Several other special awards were handed out as well. A representative from the United State Marines presented awards to seniors David Moore and Sarah Gerken for their accomplishments on and off the field.

The Brad Baugh Determination Award was presented to Chance Sikes.

Six GHS seniors received $500 scholarships from the Leopard Booster Club. The scholarship winners included Jorge Alvarado, Hunter Hall, Chris White, Samantha Calhoun, Karly Rhodes and Haley Schumacher.

For the girls cross country team, the MVP award went to Raquel Elias, while the Leopard Pride award went to Selena Espinosa.

For the boys cross country team, the MVP award went to Cale Kennedy, with the Leopard Pride award going to Bradley Tuscana.

In football, the MVP award was shared by Denzel Johnson and David Moore, while the Leopard Pride award was shared by Chris White and De'Quan Wilford.

In volleyball, the MVP award went to Whytneigh Duffie and the Leopard Pride award went to Hannah Gerken.

In boys basketball, the MVP award was shared by David Moore and Denzel Johnson, while the Leopard Pride award was shared by De'Quan Wilford and Chance Sikes.

For the girls basketball team, the MVP award went to Ariannah Kemp, while the Leopard Pride award went to Brittany Royal.

In boys soccer, the MVP award was shared by Aaron Deleon and Chris Govea, while the Leopard Pride award went to Mitchell Case.

In girls soccer, the MVP was awarded to Whytneigh Duffie, while the Leopard Pride award went to Amanda Eddowes and Jordan Garcia.

In powerlifting, the MVP award went to Marcos Garcia, and the Leopard Pride award went to Chris White.

In boys tennis, the MVP award was shared by Edgar Grimaldo and Tyler Wade, while the Leopard Pride award went to Carlos Garcia and Chisum Brewer.

In girls tennis, the MVP award went to Selena Perez, while the Leopard Pride award was shared by Josefina Cardona and Alondra Juarez.

In boys golf, the MVP award went to Andrew Dickerson.

In girls golf, the MVP award went to Anna Beall.

In baseball, the MVP award was shared by Denzel Johnson and Tag Sparks, while the Leopard Pride award was shared by Chance Sikes and Dillon Aston.

For the softball team, the MVP award went to Brittany Royal, while the Leopard Pride award went to Taylor Dudenhoeffer.

In boys track, the MVP award went to David Moore, while the Leopard Pride award went to Jonathan Mendez and Lilton Moore.

In girls track, the MVP award went to Amara Ridge, with the Leopard Pride award going to Raquel Elias.

Other special recognition went to Chris Blassengame, the lone Leopard wrestler.

Coaches for the GHS cheerleaders and Electric Red Dance team also introduced their squads..

2012-13 was a banner year for GHS athletics.  Eight different teams made the playoffs including football, volleyball, boys cross country, boys basketball, girls basketball, boys soccer, girls soccer and softball. In addition, 14 Leopards and nine Lady Leopards advanced to the Area track meet, with five boys and two girls moving on to regionals and one Leopard (David Moore) advancing to the State meet.
